Don't Blow It! It is actually the events of last week that has prompted me to write this. I had 6 products waiting to be promoted as part of my Best of eBay 3 Bonus. The deal was if you have a quality product that can benefit my subscribers I will promote it on autoresponder series. So out of 6 products how many do you think I am promoting so far? The answer is NONE! And I have very good reasons for not doing so and I hope you will learn from this. 3 of the products had no affiliate tools whatsoever. I am lazy, and so are many others. If you want me to promote your product at least give me some email copy I can look at to give me an idea what to write. You should actually have a full blown affiliates page full of graphics, blog posts, reviews, email copy, email signatures and so on. Make it as easy as possible for your affiliates to promote your product. In one case I never got to see the product. How can you expect me to promote your product if I can't review it? Oh, and if you require me to sign up for anything to receive your product forget it. Just give me a direct download link. In another case there were no affiliate program details... How do I sign up for your affiliate program? You do have an affiliate program don't you? And with the last product the affiliate script didn't work. Did you test everything? If I'm not getting paid for my efforts I'm not promoting. Listen, I know this may seem like a rant but I probably get about 10 - 20 JV requests a week now and most products are pure crap or simply not well planned. The 6 people above are lucky as they all have decent products I will eventually promote. So I am helping finalize their products. BUT! Most marketers will simply ignore your email, so getting anyone to check your product out is a major achievement, so please please please don't blow it here by not having everything, and I mean everything set up to make it as easy as possible for any affiliate to promote. I am speaking from
experience here. In the past I would just provide some email copy for
my products and maybe the odd graphic. But I have learned you need to
make it as easy as you can for any affiliate to promote your product.

You Don't Have to do Everything Yourself. There is a lot of work involved in creating an eBook. You need to create the eBook, create graphics, sales copy, email copy, maybe an autoresponder course, maybe add a pop-up script to your sales page, etc etc. But you don't have to do it all yourself. Why spend all day trying to create an eBook cover when you could pay someone a few dollars to create one for you? And the chances are it will look 10 times better than anything you could probably do yourself. The same goes for the whole eBook creation process. If I wanted to I could have an eBook created without lifting a finger. I could even have the eBook written for me. While this is something I have never done as I like to write my own material I could do it if I wanted. So if you find yourself pulling your hair out in the creation process consider outsourcing some of the work. You will find you can get almost anything you want done at Elance But what if you can't afford to outsource? Simple, find somewhere that you can either get the help you need or exchange services. Forums are usually the best place to get help. I have built some very very lucrative relationships through my own forum at www.ninetydaypowerseller.com Lets say for example you are quite talented at writing but can't create graphics. By building relationships in forums you could quite easily exchange your writing skills in exchange for some graphics work. Or maybe even partner up with someone and pool your resources to create a product together.
Give And You Shall Receive. This is something I can advise from experience. If you are online trying to make a fast buck by creating some crappy product. Or if your main motivation is driven by the dollar and not your customers you will struggle online. I truly believe if you help people in every way possible it will pay you back 10 times over in the long run. So next time someone needs help and comes to you don't see it as a burden. See it as an honour to be in a position to help. Just remember that your customer service is your business, fail here and you will ultimately fail.
Don't Cheat on eBay or Your Business Will Fail. We see it on eBay all the time. Sellers who are out to get every penny they can. They use every trick in the book to make a sale. Methods such as cheating to get on the eBay pulse. Falsifying feedback. Blatantly copying other peoples work. Stealing images from other peoples listings etc etc etc. THEN GUESS WHAT? They ended up getting suspended from trading on eBay. And why? Because they could not see the benefits of gaining a reputation for helping people. Instead they gain a reputation as a scam artist. If you find yourself using sneaky sales tactics you will pay the price one day so my advice to you is don't do it.
Don't put off Building Your list. If you are not prepared to start building a mailing list I would highly recommend you stop even trying to make money online. I am being serious here. I know of one particular marketer who is quite well known for creating a lot of eBooks and I approached him about a JV, this was in early 2006. He told me he wasn't building a list and I told him "make that your top priority". Well I was speaking to him In June this year and guess what? He still isn't building a list. I know for a fact he could have had a 20,000+ list by now and be earning an easy 10k per month. If this rings true with you I hope this is your wake up call. If you have not started to build your list don't put it off any longer. I use aweber to manage my mailing lists and highly recommend them.
